Media Web Tools: FTP Setup

Everyone:

  • Log in to your Dreamhost account

  • Click on “Manage Users”
  • Make sure “SFTP” is chosen
  • Enter a password and save
  • Also, IMPORTANT: Make note of the home directory (eg. /home/chrcar153). When setting up your FTP, your username will be the characters after home/ (eg. chrcar153).

  • On the site tab, Nickname is whatever you choose and Remote URL is http://www.yoursite.com. Don’t worry about the other fields.

Coda Example

  • On the server tab, choose SFTP as the protocol. The server is yoursite.com. The username is what was listed as your home directory (see above). Your password is whatever you set (see above).
  • You don’t need to worry about the other tabs.
  • Save the information, double-click on the site, and you should see your site’s folders in the “Files” tab.

  • When you open it, you’ll be prompted to create a new connection
